My name is Rachel Hamer and I have a little boy called Max who was born profoundly deaf. He wore hearing aids from one month old and we went ahead with cochlear implant surgery when he was 12 months old.

We attended a playgroup, which is run by our QToD, from a young age and he had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing families, who have become friends.

I feel very passionate and proud to be part of WLDCS and to raise deaf awareness and inclusivity, and to show that any level of hearing loss is not a barrier to success.

I have recently had the privilege of becoming Co-Chair of the charity with Emma and I am looking forward to driving the charity forward, and strengthening the support and opportunities for our deaf children and their families.
